TIME FOR A CHARDA TO LAND VALUABLE NEWBRIDGE PRIZE

Ian Fortune

There’s another tremendous card on offer at Newbridge featuring the final of the valuable TIME Nutrition & NTSC A3 525.

Gimont Girl and A Charda were the standout performers in the semi-finals and both can play a big part in tonight’s €2,500 to the winner decider.

The promising A Charda comes into the race in superb form after winning her last two starts in comfortable fashion. Vincent McKenna and the A Charda Gael Syndicate will be hoping she can deliver another decisive display.

She posted a rapid 28.81 in the semi-finals despite failing to dictate early. On that evidence, she is the one to beat, although Gimont Girl was only a few spots slower when clocking 28.86. The latter broke smartly to dominate in her latest assignment and George O’Connor will be hoping she can repeat that slick exit.

If doing so, she is certainly capable of having a big say in the outcome but one suspects A Charda can continue to improve and perhaps go faster than last week. That would leave her as the one to beat. Of the remainder, Pennys Gloves is perhaps best equipped to get involved but he will need to be at his very sharpest in the opening yards.

TWO JETS TO SHINE

Much of the remaining action on the Newbridge card is made up of sweepstake action.

Indeed, there will be some nice types on show in the second round of the Nollaig Shone Unraced ON2 525. Kerlogue Jet set the standard in the opening round and is chosen to follow up in the opening heat, while Snazzy Jet, who chased Kerlogue Jet home in second last week, is selected to win the second semi-final.

CHOPIN TO CONDUCT IN A2 FINAL

The final of the A2/A3 525 is the fifth race on the card and Badminton Chopin is chosen to emerge on top for Donal Murphy and David McGrath.

He needs to be at his sharpest at trap rise but has the overall profile to exact revenge on his semi-final conqueror Jacktavern Boss.
