BOLT CONTINUES TO THRIVE

Ian Fortune

It was six months ago we wrote about Nomadic Bolt winning for the seventeenth time at over six years of age.

WE suggested he was the oldest swinger in town and hinted that, despite his advancing age, he would win more races given the level of enthusiasm the August 2019 son of Laughil Bolt and An Cailin Alainn was showing.

Fast forward to Wednesday and Kilkenny’s matinee meeting and the name of Nomadic Bolt again appeared on the results page.

Just 20 days shy of his seventh birthday, in what happened to be his one hundredth race, the veteran broke in front and proceeded to make every yard for a length victory over Kiltegan Queen in 29.88 on a track rated .40 slow.

To say he is doing his lucky owners, the Jim McGuinness led Five Mc Syndicate proud would be quite the understatement.

To highlight how long he is on the go, his debut came at Clonmel back in May 2021 when scoring in an ON3 contest in 29.12. We questioned whether he was the oldest winner this year in Irish greyhound racing back in January and it seems safe to suggest some six months later that he is.

This latest victory may halt his winning ways for a little time as he has jumped up two grades but there’s still reason to celebrate. Congrats to all involved.
