Curraheen Park Greyhound Stadium is delighted to announce sponsorship of the David Fitzgibbon Memorial Open 525 Stake, which will get underway with first round heats on Saturday, May 30th.
This will the second time the competition has been hosted, which will once again be open to 24 entries (whelped March 2024 or later), with a winner’s prize of €5,000 along with the David Fitzgibbon Memorial Trophy.
Entries for the event will close on Tuesday, May 26th.
The event is being held in memory of David Fitzgibbon, who sadly passed away in June 2023 following a battle with Motor Neurone Disease. David came from a family steeped in greyhound racing and was well known by the racing community of Curraheen Park.
Speaking ahead of the event, Racing Manager Darren Hogan welcomed the announcement, “Curraheen Park is proud to support the David Fitzgibbon Memorial Open 525 Stake. David and the Fitzgibbon family have made a huge contribution to greyhound racing over many years and it is important to recognise that legacy. We expect the competition to attract some outstanding young greyhounds and it should make for a terrific series.”
