Ireland still have a firm grip on the Star Sports & Orchestrate English Greyhound Derby as far as the market is concerned.
Indeed, after his sensational track record breaking effort in the opening round, Ballymac Duffle is the new favourite with sponsors Star Sports.
Liam Dowling’s brilliant young son of Ballymac Cooper is now just 9-1 for outright glory, just ahead of another superb opening round scorer Glengar Kane. The latter was so fluent in victory and is now just 10-1 to hand Pat Buckley a second English Derby.
Dowling and Buckley are also responsible for two of the three greyhounds sharing third favouritism with Dowling’s Ballymac Deniro and Buckley’s Hackney Corner both available at 12-1. They are joined on the mark by the shortest priced UK runner in the market, Irish Derby finalist Proper Heiress.
Buckley is also responsible for the sixth choice in the betting, Glengar Silent. He too reached last year’s Irish Derby decider and is just 16-1 to win the Towcester classic.
In total, 13 of the top 19 in the market are Irish trained with Ballymac Stud and Lennies Tank available at 20-1, while Gaytime Clyde and Lennies Eddie are on the 25-1 mark. Epic Ace ran a big race in the opening round and is 28-1 with Lennies Desire, Slippery Brian and Swords Style each available at 33-1. The top end of the market can be seen below:
