Following a meeting earlier today, Rásaíocht Con Éireann (RCÉ) has issued an update regarding racing and trial arrangements in light of the forecast for Wednesday 12th August. All decisions are taken with the welfare and care of racing greyhounds into consideration.
Following its review of weather forecasts and the current forecast issued by Met Eireann, RCÉ has confirmed that racing scheduled for Kilkenny and Mullingar will proceed with the following adjustment:
Kilkenny racing will commence at the earlier time of 10.11am.
Please note that tracks in areas under a Yellow Weather warning will be restricting activity and owners and trainers are advised to contact their local racing office directly for updates regarding trial schedules. Given the regional variation in temperatures and weather conditions across the country, individual tracks having consulted with Rásaíocht Con Éireann, may implement amendments to existing schedules in line with local forecasted conditions.
In line with RCÉ warm weather protocols, water baths will be available at all locations, and greyhound owners and trainers are asked to refer to the guidance document “Caring for Greyhounds in Warm Weather” to ensure the continued welfare of their animals, a copy of which can be found here.
The latest weather forecast can be found on www.met.ie
RCÉ will continue to monitor conditions and provide further updates as appropriate throughout the week.
