WONDERFUL TUESDAY CARD IN DUBLIN

Ian Fortune

With two meetings lost last week due to the hot temperatures, tonight’s card at Shelbourne Park features no fewer than four stake finals as well as the opening round of the June Monthly Novice ON2 525.

The undoubted feature is the final of the Upcoming TIME Puppy Derby A0 525 boasting a winner’s purse of €2,500. There is a talented field but one suspects Droopys Monk is better than average and is destined for big things.

A superb semi-final winner in 28.28, he left the impression he would go faster in the near future and the son of Signet Ace has been rewarded with an ideal draw on the fence. If starting on terms, he could quickly emerge as the one to beat. Of his rivals, the talented Crash Bang Will stands out as the main danger, although many of the others are capable of going quick.

IM HERE SET TO COME HOME ALONE

Aidan Comerford’s Im Here will be a red-hot favourite for the Three Nights A Week @Shelbourne A2 525.

A stunning semi-final winner in a brilliant 28.02, the Peter Cronin trained son of Coolavanny Hoffa is likely to go onto much bigger things and can emerge a facile winner at the expense of the well-housed Max Wago.

POPPY LOOKS THE PART

Aidan Comerford also has strong claims in the final of the Barking Buzz App A2 Dual Distance over the 600d trip with his Poppy Queen the one to beat.

She looked comfortable over 575yds last week and can take another step forward for handler Marie Gilbert.

The daughter of King Sheeran was well ahead on the clock last week and should prove too good if starting on terms. Cloneden Bono won the other semi-final and is well drawn on the fence but Poppy Queen is progressive and can emerge a good winner.

TORNADO DRAWN TO GO CLOSE

The final of the Go Greyhound Racing A5 NB 525 is perhaps the most open of the four with many of those in the line-up holding strong claims.

Slight preference is for Hey Tornado in the stripes. a winner in 28.90 in the semis, the lightly raced son of Jacob Tashadelek can only improve and he gets the nod over the fast-finishing Doctor Dolittle and the eye-catching Consolidation.
